In the struggle to lead from a Jesus-like mindset, our quest to discern God's will can sometimes lead us into a maze of confusion or impatience. Here's a reflection on navigating this divine journey, tailored for those who lead with faith at the forefront.
The Search for God's Will
For years, my family sought a new home, believing God called us to a quieter, rural life to better hear His whispers. However, our path was filled with trials—temporary housing, discomfort, and uncertainty. Through this, we learned that God's timeline seldom aligns with ours. His plans, crafted with eternity in view, often prioritize the transformation of our hearts over the fulfillment of our immediate desires (Matthew 6:33).
Scriptural Insights into God's Will
In his letter to the Thessalonians, Paul offers a clear path to understanding God's will:
Rejoice Always: King Solomon, in all his wisdom, realized that true joy isn't found in wealth or pleasure but in fearing God and keeping His commandments (Ecclesiastes 12:13). Jesus teaches that abiding in His love by obeying His commandments leads to full joy (John 15:9-11).
Pray Without Ceasing: Prayer is our lifeline to heaven. Daniel's commitment to prayer, even at the risk of his life, shows us the importance of continuous communion with God (Daniel 6). Prayer isn't bound by physical posture but by the heart's alignment with God.
Give Thanks in All Circumstances: Science supports what scripture has long taught: gratitude enhances our mental and physical well-being. As leaders, cultivating a heart of thankfulness not only aligns us with God's will but also models this virtue for those we lead.
